“Tomorrow we will endure the labour of sacrife. And find the reward in creation.”
The serafim came to life during COVID. The idea was to experiment with Oshunmare’s digital productions and transform them into band material. This brought together an awesome mix of musicians and technicians mostly based in Arnhem and Nijmegen, Netherlands. We started out with Jarno van Es (keys/synth), Vos van der Noordt (drums), Noah Baan ((BASS)guitar) Kate Donkor (vocals) and Petra Randewijk and Rutger Drenth as technicians.
After multiple sessions where we recorded a heap of jams at Herrieproduktie studio (which I lovingly refer to as Petra’s womb) and shifts in the band setup.
Our core business is improvisation from which a few songs have been derived. When we play live we partially build on what we have made before and free space jazz the psychedelic rest of it.
The songs below are some of the songs we created during a weekend of improvisation. They were recorded in one shot and everything from drums to lyrics arose in that sweet moment. As did all of our material.
